 The 5th Italy International College Student Sculpture Road Competition

 

Competition Introduction:


The fifth Italian International College Student Sculpture Road Contest in 2019/2020 formally solicited works from students of major art academies in China in August 2019. The contest is an international art professional competition based on social art engineering projects with the purpose of popularizing art practice education. This contest is to create and donate a sculpture for the Italian Tuscany Medical Center, S. Jacopo Hospital, The final first prize work will be exhibited at the Medical Center for a long time.


The significance of the competition:


▪ Provide a platform for international learning, exchange, and practice of traditional Italian marble sculpture creation for art majors around the world.


▪ A creative competition based on the combination of art education and art engineering projects.


▪ Study the scientific research practice in the field of Tuscany Italian art and culture combined with art therapy.

1、 Creative Theme and Requirements


Theme: Creatures in the Garden


The great artists of the Renaissance used their inspiration to create sculptures to decorate the park. Most of these sculptures were inspired by elements in the animal or plant world. In today's modern society, real and imaginative creation still has the function of healing the human spirit. Today, in the garden of Tuscany Medical Center in Italy, a sculpture art is needed to bring spiritual healing to patients like a doctor, Please use your free imagination to combine various biological elements in the garden to create and ultimately decorate the garden of the medical center.


Model submission: unlimited materials and techniques (the final winning design will be created on-site using white marble in Italy)


Creative model: Large size within 40 x 40 x 40 cm


Final sculpture size: The marble sculpture project is within 100 x 100 x 100 cm in length, width, and height.


2、 Award settings:


Award settings: First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize,


First prize:


1. Reward a piece of Italian Carrara white marble to achieve the award-winning design of on-site sculpture.


2. Reward a 4-week marble sculpture course organized by the Michelangelo Sculpture Institute in Italy.


Course date: July September 2020 (depending on the winner's time and the time of the Michelangelo Sculpture Institute)


This course is located at the Michelangelo Sculpture Research Institute in Italy and lasts for 4 weeks. It recreates the Michelangelo Sculpture Manual from the Renaissance period and teaches marble sculpture techniques in an apprenticeship style. Famous marble sculpture craftsmen and professors from the Carara Academy of Fine Arts personally teach and assist the winners in completing their creations. Experience Italian Renaissance sculpture craftsmanship and marble sculpture culture with an immersive and unique experience.


3. Finally, he was invited to participate in the award ceremony and present the award certificate and collection honor certificate. Held in Pistoia S. Jacopo Hospital, Tuscany Medical Center, Italy


4. Free accommodation for one week is provided by the Sino Italian Cultural and Art Exchange Base.


Second Prize, Third Prize:


1. The second and third prize winners will be awarded a four week marble sculpture course at the Michelangelo Sculpture Institute.


2. Reward a 4-week marble sculpture course organized by the Michelangelo Sculpture Institute in Italy.


Course date: July September 2020 (depending on the winner's time and the time of the Michelangelo Sculpture Institute)


This course is located at the Michelangelo Sculpture Research Institute in Italy and lasts for 4 weeks. 4. Free accommodation for one week is provided by the Sino Italian Cultural and Art Exchange Base.


3、 Work submission process


Submit design proposal: (Email: Theme: Sculpture Road Competition+Name+Work Name+School, sent in compressed file format)


Participating students are required to send their design models and drawings in digital format to the competition's China Secretariat


(via email to: chinaitalyart@outlook.com )


After receiving the email, the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee will receive an email confirming the correct receipt of the document.


Deadline: Before March 20, 2020


Design proposal content:


1. 1 sculpture model video (within 20 seconds), 3 high-resolution photos of the model from different angles (in JPEG format)


2. Design drawings: Prepare one drawing per board, 60cm (height) x 100cm (length), for achieving paper based design solutions, with unlimited materials and techniques. (Actual creation size of the award-winning work: 100 x 100 x 100 cm)


3. Design work overview (requirement: within 2000 characters in both Chinese and English) is used to explain creative ideas, sources of inspiration, creative style, and form selection.


4. Registration Form (Requirements: bilingual in Chinese and English, author's name, date and location of birth, address, email contact information, and academic advisor)


4、 Selection of finalists


Date: After April 10, 2020, the jury will select the final finalists and announce their names.


Requirement: Upon receiving the nomination notice, shortlisted students are required to mail their design proposal and model to the Italian Organizing Committee (mailing time and address will be notified separately)
